Planning the Perfect Wedding - Designer Label Dresses

When planning a wedding and searching for the perfect dress for the big day, there are a few little tricks of the trade that are great to know. With a few handy hints, picking out the ideal designer-label dress might not be such a stretch of the imagination – or of the budget.

So with a little preparation and consultation with your local bridal boutiques, finding your wedding dress and accessories can be as simple as acquiring designer handbags and designer jeans. You just need to know the right way to go about it.

The first step is to contact the bridal boutiques and bridal salons in department stores to see if they have any sample sales or trunk shows scheduled. You should be able to find out the dates of such events and the designers who will be featured.

Sample sales and trunk shows are not the same thing, however, and you must bear this in mind. While sample sales give you the opportunity to purchase virtually new designer dresses at a fraction of the store cost (in some cases, up to 70 percent!), trunk shows are not sales. A trunk show is a specially scheduled day where a designer or company rep turns up with an entire range of new dresses for store personnel and a handful of privileged customers.

Being amongst the select few at a trunk show not only gives you the opportunity to snare some exquisitely beautiful new gowns directly from the designer, but they are the wedding dresses that haven’t yet made it to the shop racks. Some designers will even be willing to make special alterations to suit your requests – ensuring that your wedding dress is truly unique.

This is a great way to get your hands onto divine creations by names like Oscar De La Renta, Elizabeth Fillmore, Monique L’Huillier, Peter Langner and many, many more. Save your Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Fendi for another day – those wedding bells are ringing!
